Area Service Manager

We are seeking an Area Service Manager to cover a substantial geographical area for an exceptional charity that provides crucial pregnancy support services.

Position: Area Service Manager

Location: Remote with regular travel across the Home Counties.

Salary: circa £37k + travel expenses

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the Role:

Managing a dispersed network of supported housing units across England and Northern Ireland, this pregnancy support charity provides housing and additional outreach services to women who find themselves pregnant, with a young child and homeless.

You will oversee the Area Services Coordinator to ensure that services are consistently delivered in a trauma-informed manner, serve as the Safeguarding Department Representative, and monitor and assess staff training needs. You will ensure that housing management policies and practices are implemented efficiently. This will include income maximisation, licence and tenant management, void and arrears management, and oversight of proper referral procedures.
 

About You:

You must take responsibility for your own professional and personal development to maintain your ability to meet the needs of the charity. You must be fully aware of the regulatory and legal requirements that affect operational services, as well as ensure that all staff members within those services understand and carry out their respective obligations.

You must have:

  • Confidence in establishing relationships with multiple referring agencies to achieve effective external communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and respond to new referral opportunities for the Charity, with a focus on providing housing and services for pregnant women and their families.
  • A proven track record of planning and prioritising regional teamwork, ensuring proper resource allocation and contractual compliance.
  • Experience in line management, providing clear direction and performance indicators, inspiring and enabling staff to achieve targets and align with the business plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a charity's revenue by minimising voids, arrears, and maximising housing benefit payments, controlling regional expenditure and costs against agreed-upon budgets, and collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to maintain income and expenditure plans.
  • Experience of recruitment and developing and working with volunteers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current regulatory frameworks, codes of practice, and legislation related to health and safety, safeguarding, and transitioning to independent living.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in the delivery and management of support and/or care services.   
  • Experience in delivering results in line with organisational aims. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of performance-based management in a customer focused service organisation. 
  • Understanding the needs of vulnerable people and Safeguarding Children and Adults.
  • Experience of communicating effectively with a wide range of people to identify their needs, preferences and demands.
  • Commitment to quality, customer service, best practice, and best value in all aspects of the charity’s operation.
  • Ability to demonstrate good people skills in managing complex and difficult situations. 
  • Ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Ability to motivate others and work as part of a team.
  • Common sense and the ability to use initiative when making decisions.
