At The Myton Hospices, we provide specialist care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses, and their loved ones, from the point of diagnosis to end of life. We are a much-loved and well supported charity, at the heart of our community. We have three hospices, a range of community services, and 25 charity shops in Coventry and Warwickshire.

About the role

We are seeking a Spiritual Care Service Lead who will be responsible for the delivery of the spiritual, pastoral and religious care of our patients, relatives, carers, staff and volunteers, from all faith / belief perspectives.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, as Spiritual Care Service Lead, you’ll provide specialist knowledge in matters relating to spiritual and cultural beliefs, experiences and practices, particularly pertaining to specialist palliative and end of life care provision, as part of holistic care.

You’ll oversee the Spiritual Care Service, supervising staff members and volunteers.

This role will support our strategy and Equity and Inclusion ambitions through collaboration and external engagement with faith leaders from various religious communities.

This role will be based in our Warwick Hospice but with travel to our Coventry and Rugby sites.

About you

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Leadership and management skills
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of spiritual care in a healthcare setting
  • Hospice / palliative care / bereavement experience
  • Understanding of palliative care philosophy

And either:

  •  A relevant professional qualification in healthcare chaplaincy or similar

Or:

  • Appropriate authorisation if you represent one of the major faith traditions

This role will require an enhanced DBS check including the adults’ barred list.

As the role involves travel, you must be able to travel within Coventry and Warwickshire.

Other roles you might have experience in could include: Chaplain; Pastoral Care.

We are committed to building an inclusive workplace and encourage everyone to bring their true selves to work. However you identify, and whatever background you bring with you, we welcome you to apply. If there are any adjustments that would help improve your experience with Myton, we encourage you to share this with us.

We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and from ethnic minorities, who are currently under-represented in our hospices. We also believe our interview process should be inclusive and transparent. If there is anything missing, or a way we can improve, please do let us know.
