Principal Responsibilities

Client and Carer Support

  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with service users, Professional Carers, and office colleagues.
  • Act as a mentor and field-based support for new and existing carers, promoting confidence, competence, and adherence to Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Conduct and support the induction of new Professional Carers, including field-based training and competency checks.
  • Attend and support the first care visit with new service users, introducing the Professional Carer and ensuring a smooth start.

Care Planning and Assessments

  • Conduct service user assessments, develop and implement care plans and risk assessments.
  • Regularly review and update care documentation, maintaining compliance and accuracy.
  • Share relevant findings with colleagues and escalate to the Registered Branch Manager where appropriate.

Supervision and Auditing

  • Carry out staff supervisions and conduct 1:1 meetings for the first ten weeks of employment under guidance from the Registered Branch Manager.
  • Complete bi-monthly audits of service user and carer files to ensure all records are accurate and up to date.
  • Advise the Branch and Trainer on ongoing training needs identified through supervision and field visits.

Operational Support

  • Assist the Care Coordinator with rota management and provide cover when required.
  • Update the Care Coordinator with outcomes from risk assessments, reviews, and spot checks to support accurate scheduling.
  • Assist with weekly rota planning to ensure continuity and efficiency in service delivery.
  • Provide support with handling and resolving complaints in collaboration with the Registered Branch Manager.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Liaise effectively with office colleagues, Professional Carers, external professionals, and families.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all communications and findings.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists (OTs) and attend field visits for clients requiring double-up rounds.

Out-of-Hours and On-Call Duties

  • Participate in the out-of-hours and on-call rota as directed by the Registered Branch Manager.
  • Supervise the Out of Hours service during evenings and weekends as part of a management rota.
  • Record and report all on-call activities and escalate safeguarding risks appropriately.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a Senior Carer or Care Supervisor in the Social Care sector.
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a care team.
  • Strong understanding of CQC standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience in staff training, performance reviews, and mentoring.
  • NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care.
  • Social care training portfolio (e.g., certificates of completed training).
  • Good standard of general education.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
