Who we are
St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney was founded in 1903 by the Order of the religious Sisters of Charity and is one of the largest hospices in the UK. We celebrate this heritage, and the Catholic ethos is central to what we do.
Today, we are a prestigious independent Catholic charity dedicated to providing high-quality specialist palliative care and support to people nearing the end of their lives and to their loved ones, irrespective of faith, no faith and background. We treat each person as unique, encouraging and enabling them to reach their full potential until the end of life.
About the role
St Joseph’s is situated in an area of particular ethnic and social diversity and has a reputation for meeting those diverse needs. This is an exciting time to be joining our organisation as we develop our next strategy under the leadership of our new CEO. The Director of Clinical Services will be a member of the executive management team and will bring strengths in strategic thought, and people leadership. We are looking for a dynamic clinical leader who will enable clinical teams to adapt to greater community demands and develop services that respond to the changing requirements of our patient population and our commissioners.
The Hospice offers a 24/7 service for which the Director of Clinical Services has lead responsibility and accountability, specifically to ensure all services meet and surpass statutory requirements and outcome measures.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a registered nurse with qualifications in palliative care and previous senior clinical level experience in either a hospice or healthcare setting sufficient to demonstrate expertise in directing and leading a complex team of different disciplines across healthcare systems.
You will bring experience in contributing to and directing an organisation’s strategy and reporting to the Board. You will also be adept at seeking, developing and maintaining partnerships and networks across the local healthcare system.
It is important that the new Director understands and respects the Catholic heritage of St Joseph’s, but there is no religious requirement for this appointment. We have a sponsorship licence and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
