Female Waking Night Support Worker!

Join our team as a Waking Night Support Worker and make a real difference in the life of a woman in her mid-50s. She requires 1:1 support throughout the night, and this is where you come in! If you’re patient, understanding, and ready to offer compassionate support during some of her most vulnerable times, this role is for you.

  • Location: Newmarket, Suffolk
  • Hours: 30 hours per week (3 nights per week, 10-hour shifts)
  • Shift Pattern: Monday, Friday, and Saturday, 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Pay: £12.98 per hour
  • Requirements: Full UK driving licence essential.

Your Role

This opportunity is to support an amazing woman with limited verbal communication but an incredible ability to express herself and read people well. She uses structured sentences, visual aids, and Makaton for communication.

As a Waking Night Support Worker, your role will be crucial in helping her through her nighttime anxieties. On particularly restless nights, she may require companionship, redirection, or simply a calming presence. You’ll support her in settling back into the bungalow or engaging with her “twiddles” (small distraction toys) to ease her heightened anxiety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform household tasks to maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Conduct health and safety checks to ensure the safety of everyone in the home.
  • Monitor and respond appropriately to behaviours of distress.
  • Complete accurate record-keeping and documentation.
  • Manage the environment to ensure comfort and security during the night.
  • Administer and manage medications in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide personal care and support with hygiene as required.
  • Work independently throughout the night while maintaining high standards of support.

Shift Patterns & Teamwork

In this role, you will work waking night shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM every Monday, Friday, and Saturday. The team works closely together, especially during her more anxious periods, to ensure she receives the consistent, calm, and compassionate support she deserves.
