As a foster parent, just like any parent, you will need have the space in your life to foster and your current working arrangements and hours need to be flexible around a child. If you are thinking of working, alongside the role of being a foster parent, you will need to consider how you can manage responsibilities of being a foster parent around any work or caring commitments,  as children in foster care will require a lot of support from you as a foster parent, especially in those first days, weeks, and months of living with you.
