SENSE SCOTLAND - MAKING A DIFFERENCE ONE SHIFT AT A TIME!
As part of our growing team, we’re expanding our relief pool – an ideal opportunity for anyone looking for flexible work that fits around their life. Whether you're a student, a parent, semi-retired, or simply after a better work-life balance, joining our relief team on a zero-hour contract lets you choose when you work. Be part of something meaningful at Sense Scotland and make a real difference, one shift at a time.
We’re looking for Relief Support Workers to join our team in Ayrshire, supporting people across Ardrossan, Saltcoats, Largs and Irvine.
- In Ardrossan, we run a Day Support Service, open Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts. Hours are flexible between 8:30am and 6:00pm.
- In Saltcoats, Largs and Irvine, we provide Supported Living Services, offering 24-hour support all year round. Shifts in these services are typically 12 hours.
No two days are the same. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team, providing person-centred support to people who are primarily deafblind, with a range of complex needs. Many of the people we support don’t use verbal communication, so creativity, patience and empathy are essential.
Responsibilities of the Support Practitioner will include:
- Healthcare Support: Assist with healthcare needs, including medication administration and personal care, ensuring the well-being of individuals.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of daily tasks and activities, ensuring clear documentation of progress and support provided.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with colleagues, families, and individuals to deliver high-quality care and support, fostering a team-oriented approach.
- Encouraging Independence: Promote independence and personal growth by following Support Plans tailored to each individual's needs and goals. This could include supporting them with everyday tasks or activities they enjoy, such as going shopping, attending community groups, enjoying walks, or taking part in hobbies and outings that matter to them.
Whether you have experience in health and social care and seek a better work-life balance or are considering a career change to start in social care, we want to hear from you!
