Job Description
For this role, we need someone to build beneficial relationships with young people who have suffered significant trauma and support them with highly individualised care to achieve improved long-term outcomes.
Main Responsibilities…
- Promote great childcare practices and create a caring environment for young people in line with Great Minds Together's values.
- Help create and implement care programs based on the needs of young people, including their physical, emotional and social needs.
- Work with families and external professionals to ensure good communication and teamwork.
- Develop positive relationships with young people to boost their self-esteem and confidence.
- Support young people with their daily routines, including household tasks.
- Arrange and participate in activities with young people both on and off-site.
- Escort young people to appointments and other necessary locations when required.
- Follow the Missing from Home Protocol if needed.
- Contribute to risk assessment and management strategies for young people, including using de-escalation techniques and physical intervention when necessary.
- Observe young people regularly following home policies and procedures.
- Perform building security checks as per home policies and procedures.
- Comply with health and safety policies, including fire safety.
- Accurately complete records and logs according to statutory requirements and home policies.
- Communicate regularly with management regarding the care of young people.
- Be an active part of the staff team by attending training, meetings, and assisting with administrative duties.
- Take responsibility for personal professional development and training.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and understand OFSTED and CQC requirements.
Qualifications & Experience…
Qualifications:
- To be Educated to a good standard
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent qualification). Preferably started or completed or competent with qualifications and able to complete level 3 in residential care
Experience:
- Significant experience in residential childcare care environments (minimum 2 years ideally)
- Must have worked with challenging behaviour
