DUTIES

? To join a team of residential support staff ensuring that safe and appropriate care practices
are always maintained.
? To safeguard and protect the welfare of each child.
? To support the Manager and Assistant Manager in all aspects of the home’s operation.
? To provide safe, warm, and supportive environment to our children
? To provide fair and consistent boundaries in respect to each child’s behaviour.
? To maintain a regular system of recording in connection with each child
? To assist in the writing of reports when required.
? To attend Review and planning meetings when required.
? To promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
? To participate in the general activities of the home and to use any personal skills you may
have to maximise opportunity for each child.
? To undertake delegated household duties as required.
? To undertake regular supervision sessions as required.
? To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
? To accept responsibility for such monies as may be required in the carrying out of your


duties.
? To comply with the policies, procedures, and practise of the home.
? To respond to emergencies which may arise within the home.
? To be available to cover, staff shortfalls and/or operational deficiencies.
? To provide a positive role model for colleagues and to children
? To deal with telephone enquiries and undertake administrative duties as required e.g.
(logbooks, Daily information sheets, accident book, incident forms, population returns, care
plans etc.)
? To maintain case file records.
? Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the manager.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

? To maintain good liaison and co-operate with external stakeholders e.g. Family && social
workers
? To develop a responsible attitude with children about the fabric, furnishings, equipment,
supplies and services in/or to the home.
? To support children in all domestic aspects regarding their personal space and the
communal areas of the unit.
? To demonstrate both sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness, whilst working in a
pressured environment with groups of diverse children and staff.
? To carry out the duties of the post in a mature and responsible manner, seeking and
receiving support as necessary.
? To physically intervene if a child’s behaviour is dangerous to others or themselves, in
accordance with the procedural guidance of the home and relevant legislation.
? To participate in the construction and implementation of care plans.
? To attend Reviews, case conferences and planning meetings etc. when required.
? To act as a keyworker for the children and providing children with regular key work
sessions.
PERSONAL
? To read and understand My Care My Way policies and procedures and ensure their
operation within the service area.
? To report any concerns regarding bad practice to a line manager or other appropriate
person in a prompt and timely fashion.
? To contribute to the development of My Care My Way as a whole.
? To receive training appropriate to role and maintain an up-to-date training and personal
development profile.
? To actively participate in supervision and appraisal, taking responsibility for your individual
development needs and raising and addressing any relevant issues.
? To undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility which may be
allocated from time to time.
? All members of staff are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with
organisational expectations and requirements at all times.
? To be flexible in hours of work to meet tasks required.
? Collective responsibility for the care and security of the house including contents,
confidential records, cash, keys, furniture and equipment, residents’ clothing, and
possessions.
? To attend meetings as requested.
? To provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment to our children and young people.
? To provide cover to other My Care My Way homes if required.
? To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
? To complete any other duties as may be reasonably requested by your line manager.
