While the nursing team leads the development of Care Plans in line with best practice (e.g. NICE guidelines) for service users requiring nursing care, youll be responsible for ensuring these plans are effectively implemented. You will work closely with the ward manager, nursing team and other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth running of the service.
Main duties of the job
Youll be actively involved in coordinating daily shift activities, supervising junior colleagues, and ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. Additionally, youll take the lead in creating and maintaining care plans for service users who do not require nursing input.
As the Senior Care Assistant, you will possess a wealth of experience gained from your previous roles as a Care Assistant, specifically within an inpatient environment where the focus has primarily been on Dementia services. You will be able to maintain professional boundaries with service users, ensuring that while you provide support and empathy, the integrity of the professional relationship is upheld at all times.
Your experience will extend beyond individual care, as you will have demonstrated the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. This involves collaborating closely with healthcare professionals from various backgrounds, including nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to create a holistic approach to care that addresses the diverse needs of each service user. You will have developed strong communication skills that allow you to share insights and contribute to care plans, ensuring that every aspect of a service user’s well-being is considered. Your ability to listen actively and respond with empathy will be essential in building trust and rapport, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided. By engaging with both service users and their families, you will help create a supportive atmosphere that encourages open communication and fosters a sense of community within the care setting.
