  • a good understanding of positive behaviour support
  • a strong understanding of working in partnership with D, your colleagues, our external partners and D’s family, to ensure the best outcomes are achieved with him.
  • an empathic ability to enable people, who can struggle to regulate their emotions, to feel grounded and secure.
  • astute communication skills and the ability to read D’s mood through his body language and vocalisations
  • are willing to undertake Positive Behaviour Management practical & theoretical training
  • a positive approach to risk taking

In addition you will:

  • enjoy adapting your support style to D’s needs on any given day
  • have a strong sense of the importance of maintaining relationships with family and friends
  • be able to work as part of a team and follow clear support guidance
  • understand, and not take personally, behaviours of distress which may be displayed
  • be comfortable to provide intimate personal care respectfully
