Location: West Bromwich, B70 (Just a 5min Walk from Edward Street Hospital)
Pay Rate: £12.31 Per Hour
Hours: Part Time / 24 Hours Per Week
Requirements: Experience with autism

Are you enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about making a difference? We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to join our team in West Bromwich!

Who Will You Be Supporting?

You will be supporting a gentleman in his 60s with learning disabilities and autism. He requires 1:1 support at all times and 2:1 support in the community and for personal care. He enjoys:

  • Going Out: Loves visiting the pub and socializing.
  • Football: A big fan of West Bromwich Albion, hoping to attend a live match.
  • Music: Enjoys 80s music.
  • Quiet Time: Prefers a quiet environment and loves his blanket.
  • Sweet Treats: Has a sweet tooth and loves cakes and biscuits.
  • Sensory Rooms: Enjoys spending time in sensory rooms.
  • Recovery: Currently recovering from an injury with the goal of returning to full mobility.

What Will You Be Doing?

Each day will be different, but you will be supporting with:

  • Personal Care: Providing assistance with personal care tasks, including the use of hoists.
  • Community Support: Offering 2:1 support when out in the community.
  • Mobility Assistance: Supporting him as he uses a wheelchair and works towards full mobility.
  • Meal Preparation: Preparing meals and supporting him with his dietary needs.
  • Medication Administration: Ensuring he receives his medication as prescribed.
  • Communication: Providing clear and confident communication, following his communication passport.
  • Engagement: Encouraging participation in activities he enjoys, such as football, music, snooker, and shopping.

We are looking for someone who is strong-willed, patient, and empathetic. To be a great match you should be:

  • Experienced with Autism: Comfortable working with individuals with autism.
  • Strong Communicator: Able to provide clear and confident communication.
  • Positive and Resilient: Capable of seeing the positives and coping in a loud environment.
  • Active and Confident: Confident in learning how to support with manual handling.

Shift Patterns:

  • Flexible Across the Week: Weekdays 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (potential to finish early)
  • Sometimes shifts can be subject to change to cover for leave.

Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.
