Experienced Support Workers – Stowmarket | Join Dimensions UK
- Full time – 37.5 hours per week
- Stowmarket, Suffolk (IP14)
- Shifts – Days (7am-10pm), alternative weekends and 1 sleep in a week.
Are you looking for rewarding role in complex care support? Do you thrive in an environment that requires patience, flexibility, and strong communication skills?
At Dimensions UK, we’re seeking an experienced Support Worker to join our specialist support home in Stowmarket, helping adults with learning disabilities and complex behaviours lead fulfilling lives.
About the Role
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), with shifts primarily during the day. However, flexibility is key, as you will be expected to cover nights when required, including sickness and annual leave.
Who You’ll Be Supporting
You will be supporting one gentleman in his 40s who requires 24-hour specialist support. He has epilepsy, bipolar disorder, type 2 diabetes, and mild-to-moderate learning disabilities. He has a history of verbal outbursts and distress behaviours, but with the right approach, he thrives in a structured and supportive environment.
The person we support is highly independent, enjoys restoring furniture, gardening, chess, science experiments, playing guitar, shopping, and holidays. He prefers to be seen as part of the team rather than someone receiving support, so engagement and communication are key! The best approach is to involve him naturally instead of asking him to complete a task, simply express that you need help and watch him step in eagerly.
This role requires specialist support, and candidates must have experience working with complex behaviours and be comfortable navigating distress behaviours that can sometimes escalate.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in complex support & supporting behaviours of distress.
- Flexibility - must be willing to cover nights and alternative weekends.
- A compassionate and patient approach - building strong, respectful relationships.
- Commitment to empowering independence - helping someone feel valued.
- Strong communication skills
