Are you like me a massive Arsenal fan? What about snooker or the pub? If you do, we’ve already got things in common. I’m a middle-aged gentleman living in an independent flat with 9 other people in the building. The other people I live with & I are looking for new support workers to support us with all the small things; an evening watching football, going out for the day and all the way to big things such as holidays or getting new jobs.

My new support workers would have to adhere to Discovery’s values of Courage, Ambition, Integrity, Partnership & Respect. Because I use a wheelchair outside of my home, I need someone strong and confident to go out with. Don’t worry if you haven’t done this before though. If you’ve got our values, you’ll get the right training.

Want to know how the team feel? They said this about the management:

“Our manager is always thanking us for doing a great job and I do feel valued. On the weekly roundup he will thank us all. He sometimes leaves us a thank you card or a tin of sweets. Things like that make a difference every day. He comes around to say hello to us and the people we support to see if everything is ok. He is so approachable and he always has time for you. You feel like you could tell him anything even if you had a personal problem.”

Key everyday tasks:

  • Support me to go shopping for things I want to buy, including clothes and food.
  • Support me to manage my own money.
  • Support me with medication in the morning
  • Support to go out and attend activities, meet up with friends and build new relationships.
  • Help, encourage and support me to do my housework
  • Keep written records, using IT systems to update my support plan, financial information and health and safety records.

So if you like having a laugh and a joke, doing a meaningful job where it’s not groundhog day and making a difference every minute of your day, apply now!

Shift Patterns: These can vary throughout the week and can be flexible.
For example - 7am - 2:30pm / 8am - 3:30pm / 9am - 4:30pm / 2:30 - 10pm / 9am - 3pm / 4pm - 9pm - Plus alternate weekends.
