About the role
We’re looking for a caring, patient and values-driven Support Worker to join our friendly team in RG41. You’ll support two young gentlemen in their 30s who have cerebral palsy, learning disabilities and well-managed epilepsy. Both lead active, sociable lives and enjoy being out in the community.
Support is provided 1:1, with a strong focus on independence, dignity and positive engagement.
Who you will be supporting
These two gentlemen are expressive, social, fun and full of personality. Although they do not use words to communicate, they make their needs known clearly through expression, gestures and sounds.
Gent 1 – Active & Adventurous
- Loves long walks
- Enjoys collecting sticks
- Outgoing and happiest being outdoors
Gent 2 – Social & Lively
- Loves music, musicals and live shows
- Enjoys parties, the zoo, aquarium and being around people
- Sociable, friendly and loves community outings
Mobility & medical needs:
- Both use wheelchairs when out in the community
- One gentleman uses a wheelchair full-time
- Hoists used for one person
- Personal care required
- Support with meals and eating
- Medication administration required
- One person is at high risk of falls, so vigilance and confidence are essential
Family involvement:
Families are heavily involved, so clear communication and a respectful, collaborative approach are vital.
What you will be doing
You’ll play an important role in helping both gentlemen live full, meaningful lives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Personal care
- Hoist use (for one gentleman)
- Supporting walking and wheelchair mobility
- Assisting with meals and dietary needs
- Administering medication
- Encouraging communication and choice through expressions and gestures
- Supporting with hobbies, activities and days out
- Promoting safety, wellbeing and confidence
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being out and about, staying active, and building warm, trusting relationships.
Shift patterns
This is a 22.5-hour role worked flexibly across the week.
Shifts include:
- 7:00am – 2:30pm
- 2:30pm – 10:00pm
Rotas are provided in advance to support work-life balance.
About you
