About Dimensions
At Dimensions, no two days are the same. You’ll support autistic people and adults with learning disabilities to try new things – from cooking classes to everyday achievements that matter. Every day brings moments of joy, progress, and independence. We’ll support you with training, flexibility, and recognition through Aspire and Dimensions Academy, in a role where your impact is seen, valued, and meaningful.
About the Role
- Support Worker
- Part time – 30 hours per week
- Tiptree, Colchester, CO5
- Full UK manual driving licence with access to own car.
We’re looking for a bubbly, upbeat and dynamic Support Worker to join our team and support one woman in her 40s who lives independently in her own bungalow in a rural location. This is a 2:1 supported living home where she thrives on having people around who can keep up with her energy, humour, and busy social life.
She loves meeting friends, playing pool and darts, watching horror films, going to pubs, karaoke, and being out and about as much as possible. Music is on 24/7 in her home, and she loves nothing more than a sing-along, a dance, or a bit of banter with her staff. You’ll need to enjoy that atmosphere too, confidence, fun and a warm personality are essential.
She has a diagnosis of a personality disorder and learning disabilities and can display behaviours of distress. You will be fully supported with behaviour-support approaches and trained to respond calmly, safely and in line with positive behaviour support principles, as reinforced in the JDPS core duties and expectations around safety, communication and partnership working.
She is very independent with daily living, she completes all her own personal care, manages her routines, and doesn’t need physical assistance. Your role is about building a trusting relationship, offering prompts when needed, keeping her routine flowing, maintaining boundaries, and creating a consistent, upbeat environment that helps her feel safe and empowered.
Shifts are 7am–10pm with optional sleep-ins. Weekend work is every other weekend. A 4-week rolling rota is provided, usually 5–6 weeks in advance.
About You
You’ll share our values of Ambition, Courage, Integrity, Partnership and Respect, and bring resilience and a fun, engaging personality. Experience isn’t essential, but you must be comfortable supporting someone with behaviours of distress. The JDPS highlights the importance of responding flexibly, using clear communication, working collaboratively, and following safe practice.
You will also:
- Be confident building rapport and managing boundaries.
- Use active listening and strong communication skills.
- Be reliable, organised, and consistent.
- Be able to complete digital records and e-learning.
Most importantly, you’ll bring the right values — everything else, we can teach.
