Who You Will Be SupportingYou will support two quiet, gentle, and friendly gentlemen with learning disabilities and autism. Although they use limited words, they communicate clearly through expressions and gestures, and you will quickly learn their preferences and routines.
They enjoy:
- Regular exercise and going to the gym
- Holidays and day trips
- Rock music
- Shopping in charity shops
- Dining out and attending appointments
- Exploring new activities with the people they trust
You will work alongside them, listening carefully, understanding their needs, and advocating respectfully on their behalf.
What You Will Be DoingYour role will be varied, meaningful, and focused on supporting the gentlemen to live the life they choose. Responsibilities include:
Supporting independence
Encouraging daily living skills, providing personal care where needed, and helping maintain an active, fulfilling lifestyle.
Planning activities
Using creativity to arrange activities such as gym sessions, shopping trips, meals out, and holidays.
Advocating with respect
Helping the gentlemen express their wishes and make informed choices about their daily lives.
Providing day-to-day support
Meal preparation, medication administration, wellbeing support, and ensuring a safe environment.
Building trusted relationships
Creating strong, respectful partnerships with the gentlemen, their families, and colleagues.
Shift PatternThis is a part-time role – 15 hours per week plus sleep-ins.
Shifts include:
- Sleep-in shifts as part of your weekly pattern
- Daytime hours depending on rota requirements
Rotas are issued in advance to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
