DUTIES
? To support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the home,
ensuring that high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained at all times.
? To lead and supervise the team of Residential Support Workers, ensuring care practices are
safe, child-centred, and in line with regulatory and organisational expectations.
? To act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead when required and ensure effective safeguarding
measures are implemented and monitored.
? To promote a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that supports the emotional,
physical, and psychological wellbeing of all children.
? To assist with the implementation of consistent behaviour support strategies and fair
boundaries that support each child's individual needs.
? To oversee accurate and timely recording practices, including daily logs, incident reports,
keywork sessions, and care planning documentation.
? To support in the preparation and delivery of placement plans, risk assessments, and statutory
reports for Looked After Children.
? To attend and contribute to professional meetings, including Reviews, Planning Meetings, and
Case Conferences, offering detailed insight into each child’s progress.
? To promote and uphold high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation across
the home.
? To actively participate in and encourage meaningful activities for children, using own skills and
interests to promote engagement and development.
? To complete delegated household and administrative tasks to support the smooth running of
the home.
? To participate in regular staff supervision, mentoring, and professional development reviews.
? To assist in the induction, training, and performance monitoring of new and existing staff.
? To oversee financial responsibilities, ensuring safe handling of petty cash and children's
allowances.
? To ensure compliance with all My Care My Way policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
? To respond confidently to emergency situations and provide guidance to staff during critical
incidents.
? To provide positive, professional role modelling for both staff and children.
? To manage and monitor communication, including handling telephone enquiries, liaising with
professionals, and maintaining administrative systems.
? To contribute to quality assurance practices, including audits and feedback reviews, to
continually improve care delivery.
? To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by the Home Manager or Senior
Leadership Team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
? To maintain good liaison and co-operate with external stakeholders e.g. Family && social
workers
? To develop a responsible attitude with children about the fabric, furnishings, equipment,
supplies and services in/or to the home.
? To support children in all domestic aspects regarding their personal space and the
communal areas of the unit.
? To demonstrate both sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness, whilst working in a
pressured environment with groups of diverse children and staff.
? To carry out the duties of the post in a mature and responsible manner, seeking and
receiving support as necessary.
? To physically intervene if a child’s behaviour is dangerous to others or themselves, in
accordance with the procedural guidance of the home and relevant legislation.
? To participate in the construction and implementation of care plans.
? To attend Reviews, case conferences and planning meetings etc. when required.
? To act as a keyworker for the children and providing children with regular key work
sessions.
PERSONAL
? To read and understand My Care My Way policies and procedures and ensure their
operation within the service area.
? To report any concerns regarding bad practice to a line manager or other appropriate
person in a prompt and timely fashion.
? To contribute to the development of My Care My Way as a whole.
? To receive training appropriate to role and maintain an up-to-date training and personal
development profile.
? To actively participate in supervision and appraisal, taking responsibility for your
individual development needs and raising and addressing any relevant issues.
? To undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility which may be
allocated from time to time.
? All members of staff are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with
organisational expectations and requirements at all times.
? To be flexible in hours of work to meet tasks required.
? Collective responsibility for the care and security of the house including contents,
confidential records, cash, keys, furniture and equipment, residents’ clothing, and
possessions.
? To attend meetings as requested.
? To provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment to our children and young people.
? To provide cover to other My Care My Way homes if required.
? To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
? To complete any other duties as may be reasonably requested by your line manager.
