Care and Support Worker, L'Arche Ipswich

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Reports to: Team Leader

Hours of work: 40 hours, evenings, weekends and split shifts

Salary: £12.21 per hour, rising from year 2

Place of work: L’Arche Ipswich, community houses

Contract type: Permanent, Full-time

 

Please note this role is not open to visa sponsorship and is best suited to applicants already living in the Ipswich area. 

 

Main purpose of the role: As a Care and Support Worker you will support people with learning disabilities living in a variety of settings, in line with agreed support and care plans, in all aspects of their everyday lives. 

You will deliver practical, physical and emotional support to people with learning disabilities, whilst proactively promoting choice, independence and self-determination.

 

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide high quality support to people with learning disabilities in line with L’Arche values, policies and procedures, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC];
  • Facilitate individuals to meet their leisure, social, practical and spiritual needs and promote their ongoing development of independence;
  • Assist with household maintenance, including shopping, cooking cleaning and laundry;
  • Work as one of a team;
  • Be responsible for clear communication with professionals, families of people whom L’Arche support, advocates, neighbours, visitors and other members of L’Arche who are in contact with the house;
  • Attend training and formation courses as applicable to this community role;
